Walking into a church for the first time can feel like a lot. Here's the honest version of what your morning looks like.
You'll be welcomed like family
We're a small church, which means you won't get lost in a crowd. Someone will know your name before you leave.
Sunday School at 10, worship at 11
Sunday School starts at 10:00 and breakfast is served afterward. Worship begins at 11:00 and we take our time with it.
Breakfast is part of the morning
Between Sunday School and worship we eat together. If you come at 10, plan to stay for a plate.
Wednesdays are for prayer and study
The Woman's Missionary Union meets at 5:00 and prayer and Bible study follow at 6:00. Everyone is welcome at both.

New Light Baptist Church is a small congregation in Lubbock filled with the love of Christ, each other, and the community it serves. Sunday begins with Sunday School, continues over breakfast together, and moves into worship that gives the morning room to breathe.
Since 2009, our Love & Lunch Program has served over three hundred lunches every other week. Alongside it, our social services ministry walks with neighbors toward becoming self-sufficient and independent.

Pastor Kenneth O. Jackson
Senior Pastor
Pastor Jackson has served New Light as senior pastor since 2007, preaching the Word every Sunday at 11:00 and leading a congregation that has fed its neighbors every other week since 2009. He is a former president of the African American Fellowship of Texas and was honored at the Culp Legacy Banquet in 2025.

First Lady
First Lady Jackson is in the kitchen most Wednesdays, helping prepare the three hundred lunches that go out through the Love & Lunch Program, and she works alongside the Woman's Missionary Union in caring for families across Lubbock.
